Terms of use

Last updated: October 5, 2026

These terms cover the summy apps for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, and the summy.ink website (together, "summy"). By using summy you agree to them. How we handle data is in the privacy policy.

Using summy

You may use summy for personal or business purposes. Don't misuse it: no breaking the law, attacking or overloading our servers, or trying to get around its limits.

No warranty, limited liability

summy is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We don't promise it will be error-free, that calculations are always correct, or that it will never lose data, so check results that matter and keep your own backups. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim about summy is limited to the amount you paid us for it.

Summy Pro

Summy Pro is a one-time license for the desktop apps (Mac, Windows and Linux), for up to 5 of your own devices. It is sold by Dodo Payments as merchant of record, and its terms apply to the purchase. Refunds follow Dodo's terms; you can also write to support@summy.ink.

Mobile apps

The iPhone, iPad and Android apps are free for now. They come from the App Store and Google Play, so those stores' terms also apply. For the iPhone and iPad app, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

Shared notes

  • You are responsible for what you share.
  • Don't share anything illegal, abusive, or that you don't have the right to share.
  • A shared link can be read by anyone who has it. Share it only with people you want to see the note.
  • We may remove a shared note, or block sharing, at any time, for example to stop abuse.
  • You can stop sharing at any time, which deletes the note from our servers.

Changes

We may change these terms. We update the date above when we do, and by continuing to use summy after that you accept the new terms.
